Avnet dons new support hat
Distribution giant unveils new support centre in the UK for Red Hat solutions
Avnet has launched a new support centre in the UK centred on Red Hat Solutions to boost sales opportunities for its reseller base.
Aside from attracting new Red Hat partners, the distribution behemoth claims the centre, driven by its SolutionsPath methodology, will help ramp up sales in the IBM, HP and Symantec solutions areas, allowing its wider reseller base to capitalise on the demand for open source technology.
Matthew Tedstone, sales director of enterprise solutions at Avnet UK, said: "By adopting an open source strategy, companies can achieve considerable cost savings in terms of reduced upfront capital investment and ongoing maintenance. In addition, open source solutions present the best option for maximising the efficiency, security and cost-effectiveness of computing and cloud enterprises. It is essential for the channel to have sufficient knowledge and expertise to take advantage of this growth opportunity.
"The Avnet Support Centre for Red Hat Solutions delivers the necessary open source know-how and skills to ensure solutions are designed and implemented successfully. This will allow our partners to take immediate financial advantage of open source opportunities with confidence.”
Philip Andrews, vice president for northern and eastern Europe at Red Hat, said: “Red Hat has successfully taken Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation, Red Hat Storage and JBoss Enterprise Middleware into the mainstream enterprise market, delivering high-quality and high-availability solutions to customers that are looking to significantly improve their return on IT investments.
"We look forward to working with Avnet to drive what we believe to be a great opportunity for the business partner ecosystem.”
