Probrand gets on the road
VAR organises roadshow to help IT decision makers in education sector
Midlands-based Probrand is embarking on an education roadshow to help technology buyers in the sector make more informed decisions.
The VAR has gathered together a stable of education peers and speakers from the Google Academy, Raspberry Pi and Microsoft to present to the audience at the event taking place on 12 October in Blackburn.
Probrand's tour launches with its inaugural event the EduTech Showcase which will focus on strategies, trends and emerging technology that drive attention span in the classroom and bridge the ICT skills gap in the workplace.
Key speakers at the event include: Microsoft’s Sean O’Shea, who will cover the impact of Windows 8 on the education sector; Raspberry Pi’s co-founder Pete Lomas will discuss the challenges of bridging the computer science gap between education and the working world; Google Academy certified teacher Matt Lovegrove will explain the use of Google Apps in the classroom; Ian Addison, award-winning primary school teacher and ICT co-ordinator, will cover how to unlock a free ICT curriculum online and Chris Dawes, IT manager at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, will showcase how to engage students with next-generation technology in the classroom.
Richard Hunter-Rice, business development manager at Probrand, said: “We have brought together insightful topical speakers and provided them with a platform to share.
"Keynote speakers will address pivotal subjects ranging from blogging to APPtivities and 3D to computer science for children and young people. It is then for the rest of the community to debate whether it is appropriate for broader introduction of new ways of working. The event will support the education sector in driving forward its adoption of appropriate technology that engages students and helps drive more efficient operations in the back office.”
