Pearson offers print apprenticeships

Training provider Pearson in Practice adds course for imaging industry

Training provider Pearson in Practice has launched an advanced apprenticeship scheme for people aiming to work in the print and document offerings sector.

The new scheme joins its other advanced IT apprenticeship offerings, for ICT overall and Oracle Java developers. According to Pearson in Practice, print technology is evolving rapidly, and customers want and expect better service.

"No longer are they looking simply for printers and supplies, but expect an integrated, high-quality, efficient and affordable business solution," the company said in its press statement.

The qualification incorporates CompTIA PDI+, CompTIA A+ (Distance Learning), and Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals modules. CompTIA's Network+ accreditation is offered as an option.

"Companies from across England will benefit from the programme, which includes a mix of on- and off-the-job training. The programme runs for at least 12 months, with employers able to shape and develop the apprentice," the training provider said.

Some government funding is available to help apprentices join the training programme, which requires English GCSE grades A to C or equivalent as prerequisites.

Some grants are also available to small businesses that hire apprentices.
