CompTIA set to merge with Accredit UK

Industry bodies claim they are better together

ICT industry body CompTIA has claimed that the channel will be able to take advantage of a wider range of accreditations and resources after it announced it is to merge with Accredit UK.

Firms holding Accredit UK accreditations will gain automatic membership to the CompTIA Channel Community following the merger, which is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2013.

Accredit UK aims to improve confidence in the ICT supply chain by certifying registered companies which satisfy agreed criteria, and its accreditations will be available as a new CompTIA certification, which was launched yesterday.

The Trustmark credential "identifies companies that have pledged to follow a robust code of practices that meet or exceed the industry standard level of customer service", according to CompTIA.

Todd Thibodeaux, chief executive of CompTIA, said the merger will enhance th body's membership base.

"CompTIA is spearheading this merger to strengthen its global membership reach as well as to expand its Trustmark portfolio," he added.

"The addition of Accredit UK holder organisations to the CompTIA membership roster extends our network of highly skilled and qualified IT solution providers."
