Sanderson to vacate Ingram UK hot seat

Broadliner begins hunt for replacement after Matt Sanderson promoted to vice president role

Ingram Micro is hunting for a new UK boss as incumbent Matt Sanderson gets set to return to Australia.

The distributor has confirmed that Sanderson has been promoted to a vice president role that will see him return to an Australian operation he left three years ago to take on the UK managing director position.

Sanderson (pictured) will fill the shoes of current Australian chief Jay Miley, who is jetting back to his native US to become vice president of advanced technologies.

Ingram Micro UK marketing director James Parker confirmed to ChannelWeb that Sanderson will begin his new role in January.

It is understood the distributor has already launched a hunt for Sanderson's successor and will consider both internal and external operations.

After joining Ingram's UK business in 2002, Sanderson took on a role at the distributor's Australian arm in 2004. By the time he moved back to head up the UK business in 2009, he had been promoted several times to become senior director, volume business unit and consumer sales.

One rival, who wished to remain anonymous, admitted Sanderson's promotion was a reflection of the growth Ingram has enjoyed in the UK over the past three years, adding that it would be hard to fill his shoes.

Sanderson's exact job title is not known, but his remit is thought to include New Zealand and encompasses a "multibillion-dollar business", according to insiders.
