Phoenix gives law firm an infrastructure refresh
Managed services player completes total IT overhaul for Midlands-based law firm in a week
Managed services specialist Phoenix has completed a project to refresh the entire infrastructure of law firm Higgs & Sons.
The deal, for an undisclosed amount, saw Phoenix install a new network and terminals across the business, centralise the infrastructure and upgrade all server technology, all within one week.
As a result, the firm will save at least £30,000 on power and tape costs per year and has seen increased productivity. It has even implemented a full mobility strategy.
Stephen Brown, IT director at Higgs & Sons, said: “We were faced with end-of-life Microsoft technology, while servers and front-of-line applications were also ageing.
“So we needed a change. We want to use the latest tools and technologies to work as productively as we can and deliver the best client service possible.” Phoenix was already an IT provider to the business, and the decision to appoint the company for the task made perfect sense, he explained.
“We did look at other providers,” Brown added. “The decision eventually came down to the relationship we had forged with Phoenix and the mutual trust we had built up. Phoenix knew our old infrastructure well, and provided support and maintenance, so it was known and trusted. Phoenix also has that important relationship with Microsoft, and we knew we could make use of that.”
He said the firm is already looking at its next project with Phoenix, including a business continuity strategy and further embracing virtualisation and the cloud.
“Phoenix is big enough to deliver the services we want, and to have the right connections with vendors such as Microsoft and all the technical ability behind the scenes, but it is not so big that it has lost the ability to treat you like a valued customer.”
