Cloud confusion holds back SMBs

AVG research shows 22 per cent of SMBs think cloud is just for big companies, and 17 per cent do not trust it

Nearly one third of UK SMBs does not understand cloud services, according to new research from AVG Technologies.

Twenty-two per cent of respondents said they believed the cloud was just for large firms, according to the security vendor's study, which surveyed 1,000 SMBs in the UK and US.

Almost a quarter of those questioned in the UK said cost was the main inhibitor to cloud uptake, while 17 per cent did not trust the services and 10 per cent thought it was too complicated.

Mike Foreman, general manager for SMB at AVG Technologies, said: "At AVG, we understand the SMB dilemma because several of us were SMBs ourselves. The benefits of cloud services do not have to be expensive solutions reserved for large companies with IT departments."
