SecureData makes first acquisition

Security VAR snaps up application acceleration specialist Quadrant Networks

Security VAR SecureData has made its first acquisition since performing an MBO from its South African parent in the summer.

According to a tweet last night by managing director Etienne Greeff - which has now been confirmed by a press release - the Juniper, Websense and Check Point partner has bought Quadrant Networks.

With the weight of new private equity backer August Equity behind it, SecureData plans to make multiple acquisitions to help reach its goal of growing turnover from £15m to £50m.

Founded in 2008, Quadrant is an application acceleration specialist working with vendors including Riverbed, Palo Alto and ExtraHop Networks.

It is the first time the firm has hit the acquisition trail since last decade, when it bought a string of firms when it was still known as MIS.

SecureData said the acquisition would bolster its skills in the application delivery, datacentre security and denial of service space.

"Quadrant represents the ideal acquisition for SecureData with a strong, loyal customer base backed up by excellent people," stated Greeff.

Peter Ledger, sales director of Quadrant, said: "We both pride ourselves on providing an honest and consultative approach to the way we do business; these cultural similarities have given us the added confidence that this acquisition will be the start of great things."
