Steljes raises £47,340 for African street kids
Chairman Nigel Steljes presents Street Child Africa with Smart campaign donations
Pictured is Nigel Steljes, chairman of Steljes, presenting a cheque for £47,340 to charity Street Child Africa as a result of its latest Smart whiteboard channel campaign.
According to a statement from Steljes, the charity helps African street kids back into education so they can realise their potential in life.
"Although basic education in Africa should be provided for free, there are often costly, hidden fees such as compulsory uniforms. For children living on the streets with no adult carer, it is simply impossible for them to go to school," it said.
Its Breath of Fresh Air campaign promised that for every 600i or 800i Smart board it sold between 1 July and 30 September, about £20 would be donated to the charity to buy school shoes, a uniform, and a school bag for children.
On the right receiving the cheque is Chris Bourne, chairman of trustees for Street Child Africa, which is based in Thames Ditton, Surrey, and has helped children in Ghana, Senegal, Mozambique, Zambia and other African countries.
Cheer up, Nigel.
