Recruitment may slow ahead of Christmas, but some significant hires have been named
Who is looking for a job out there? Manchester cloud services firm UKFast has announced it is looking for some 200 new recruits over the next 18 months, doubling current staff numbers to back up its new Trafford Park datacentre and co-location facility.
"World class" technicians, programmers, marketers and account managers are sought, according to chief exec Lawrence Jones.
Distributor Entatech has expanded its marketing department, adding two new marketing executives, Michelle Stephenson (pictured, left), and Suzanne McNicholas.
Stephenson will be focusing on the gaming and peripherals portfolio, and McNicholas (pictured, below right) on the retail channel.
Gemma Platt has been taken on as product marketing manager for the projector division at Casio. Many in the channel may know Platt from her four-year tenure at audiovisual distributor Midwich.
Security vendor Fireeye recently moved its chairman, David DeWalt, into the chief executive officer seat, with current chief executive Ashar Aziz wearing three new hats: chief technology officer, chief strategy officer, and vice-chairman.
As already reported on Channelweb, the last week or so also saw Micro-P welcome Computer 2000 staffer Caroline Hope as its new general manager for consumer electronics, and Logicalis UK boss Tom Kelly is hitting the road in the new year - with the new managing director yet to be selected.
Integrator Kcom's new MD will take the reins in January - Stephen Long, formerly of Fujitsu's private sector arm.
Another cloud-focused provider, Phoenix, has recently made four new appointments. John Adair has joined as service excellence director; Richard Lawrence will run the distributed services and network services capability units; and Tom McMurdo is its new director of hosting and server operations.
Internally, Andrew Gibson has taken the role of head of solution design and pre-sales in the SI business unit.
