Softcat unveils quirky £3.6m refit

Reseller aims to cement its place as one of UK's best firms to work for with refit inspired by its staff

Reseller Softcat has today made a bid to cement its place as one of the country's best places to work by unveiling its newly refurbished offices, which it claims are similar to those of Google.

The refit of the VAR's Marlow office cost £3.6m and was based upon designs from the firm's staff.

Softcat's new home includes brightly coloured walls, themed break-out rooms as well as a wall-to-wall X-box experience for staff to use on their breaks.

The reseller staff moved from their old Marlow offices into the refurbished building in the autumn, and managing director Martin Hellawell said that the new buildings reflect the staff's work ethic.

He said: "We believe that a workplace should reflect and reinforce the working culture within it... We already had a unique, dynamic work culture - we just needed a workplace to match it.

"We are not your typical company, so why should we settle for a typical workplace?"

Softcat recently announced its aim to double its technical team, and welcomed 44 new sales staff onto its graduate programme in the summer.
