TSG pledges allegiance to Sophos UTM

VAR to roll out vendor's unified threat management solution to 4,000-strong customer base

VAR TSG is putting all its unified threat management (UTM) eggs in one basket by throwing its full weight behind Sophos.

After running the rule over several UTM offerings, TSG has chosen Sophos as its default UTM offering and will now roll the solution out to its 4,000-strong customer base.

The Newcastle-based VAR, which was founded by Sage doyen Graham Wylie, claims to have more technical manpower dedicated to the product than any other UK partner, with eight trained engineers and eight trained architects. It has also fully trained 20 of its sales staff on the product.

Endpoint security vendor Sophos leapt into the UTM market last year by acquiring Astaro and Steve Cox, chief technology officer at TSG, said Sophos' integrated approach helped seal the deal.

"We evaluated a number of solutions and Sophos is the only vendor to offer UTM and endpoint in single console," he said.

"The other key factor in our decision to standardise on Sophos was its vision and strong roadmap for UTM, with integrated MDM and encryption, a new management console and an innovative per user per month pricing strategy all on the horizon."

James Vyvyan, regional vice president of UK&I at Sophos, added: "The team at TSG has just completed an intensive technical training programme, which will position them as one of our most qualified UTM partners."
