Top three weird and wonderful channel moments of 2012
A round up of some odd moments for the channel over the last year
The channel is no stranger to odd occurances and strange stories, and 2012 has been no expection. Here are our three favourites of the year.
1) Software vendor chief vows to prove UK channel commitment by swimming the English channel -but fails.
US-based firm ConnectWise boss Arnie Bellini vowed to prove the firm's commitment to the UK channel by attempting to swim across the English Channel in the summer. Despite his noble efforts, Bellini was forced to give up at the 23-mile mark after the current steered him off-course.
After admitting defeat, Bellini posted this video, and vowed to try again next year.
2) CRN visits Wick Lane sewage depot
Never one to shy away from a challenge, when CRN was invited down a sewer to go on a tour of Geo Networks' fibre optic networking cables - we could not refuse!
Here is a clip of what we found down the sewer, and you can read our feature in full here. More sewer photos can be found on here on our Facebook page.
3) Lord Sugar blasts "idiot" teenager
When spending a weekend at a bike show at Birmingham's NEC Arena, the last thing Lord Sugar expected was for a teenager to tease him with his famous "you're fired!" catchphrase. But what happened next was even more unexpected as Sugar retorted by calling the youth a "prick." You can see the video here.
