CMS hails name change and plans acquisitions
Distributor changes name from CMS Peripherals to CMS Distribution and plots aggressive growth
Distributor CMS Peripherals has changed its name to CMS Distribution as it plans the next stages of growth.
The firm officially became CMS Distribution on 1 January and is planning further acquisitions to help it achieve its annual growth target of 20 per cent and hit €250m (£153m) turnover by 2014.
Speaking to CRN, Joe Fagan, group marketing director at CMS Distribution, said the name change was triggered by the firm's acquisition of CCI Distribution in August 2011.
"The name CMS Distribution captures what we do perfectly. The acquisition of CCI has been very successful and we have been able to take their products to our resellers and vice versa. With the 120-odd vendors that the two companies cover, there has been virtually no overlap," he added.
He claimed resellers would see very little change and would still speak to the same account manager in the same location.
"The changes have been internal. We have enabled a new group ERP system based on SAP and we have a new unified telephony system. All the new piping and plumbing has now been done," he said.
Frank Salmon, founder and managing director of CMS, added: "The acquisition has been a wonderful success. Our new corporate name more appropriately reflects our focus and mission as a channel-only distribution company. Our resellers enjoy a greater breadth of product portfolio and expertise while our vendors benefit from greater customer reach."
As a result of the changes, founder of CCI Distribution Paul Roughley will take on the new role of operations director of CMS Distribution.
Fagan also told CRN the newly named firm has its eye on more acquisitions.
"We cannot achieve what we want to organically, so we are definitely looking at acquisition and we are not just restricted to the UK and Ireland either. CMS is on an acquisition trail," he said.
