Printerland eyes £1m boost from new South Africa office

UK print VAR opens doors on full-time Cape Town location and looks for swift growth

VAR Printerland hopes to generate more than £1m this year from its nascent South African business after opening an office in Cape Town.

The Altrincham-based firm has previously stated its desire to make moves into the market and has worked with vendor partner Oki on sales opportunities in the country for the past couple of years. Printerland now has a fully operational satellite office in South Africa's second city and will be working with all its major manufacturers.

Managing director James Kight told ChannelWeb he hopes to turn over in excess of 15 million rand (£1.1m) during the office's first 12 months in operation.

"We will do that comfortably and will look to grow the business from there," he added.

Printerland recently filed accounts for its 2012 fiscal year which showed revenue grew 22.4 per cent to £17.1m in the year to 31 March 2012. Operating profit rose a little over 50 per cent to more than £1m.
