Lenovo and EMC hail joint venture
Vendors launch LenovoEMC to bring network attached storage to the masses
Vendor giants Lenovo and EMC have unveiled their joint venture, appropriately titled LenovoEMC.
The aim of the venture, which was first announced in August 2012, is to bring co-branded NAS solutions to distributed enterprise, remote branches and SMBs, incorporating the core assets of EMC's Iomega business.
Eris Arcese, general manager of LenovoEMC, said: "Lenovo's record as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the world and Iomega's heritage as a leader in network storage solutions enables the joint venture to pursue growth opportunities and drive innovation in the SMB NAS market.
"With the joint venture now under way, there is a real sense of opportunity and excitement as we work with our partners and customers to firmly establish LenovoEMC as a leader in the fast-growing global SMB storage market."
EMC and Lenovo are shareholders of LenovoEMC, with Lenovo holding the majority interest.
