Mark Starkey to take Logicalis UK MD role

Operations chief to take over from soon-to-depart head Tom Kelly, ChannelWeb learns

Logicalis UK chief operating officer Mark Starkey is to take the managing director reins following the imminent departure of long-standing boss Tom Kelly, ChannelWeb has learned.

Kelly (pictured below), who has helmed the integrator's UK operations since 2004, revealed six weeks ago that he is to leave the firm at the close of its fiscal year at the end of February. Between now and then he will work alongside his successor to lay out the company's business plan and budgets for FY14.

According to the VAR's website, Starkey has been with the Logicalis Group since September 1998, having previously become a qualified chartered accountant at auditor Ernst & Young. In 2005 he was handed a post as commercial director of Logicalis Network Solutions and oversaw the integration of acquisitions including Notability Systems, TBC, Hawke Systems and CSF.

During Kelly's tenure as boss he grew the reseller from a £40m outfit into one of the UK's biggest integrators, with UK sales approaching £200m. In recent years the company has also led the charge into cloud and services provision, making big investments, including the construction of a £7.5m, 10,000 sq ft datacentre in 2010.
