Xeptor adds fibre optic components alternative

Overstock supplier expands into transceivers and fibre optic components

Overstock and refurbished hardware distributor Xeptor IT has signed an agreement to resell fibre optic kit from PeakOptical throughout Europe.

Stephan Derksen, director of the networking business unit at Xeptor, indicated that OEM optics from the likes of Cisco are good quality but often expensive, so the distributor had been looking for a quality alternative.

"We have seen an influx of cheap optics from Asia that do not meet the standards for a solid and trusted network environment. We have researched the market for an alternative to fill that gap, and found the right partner in Peak Optical," he said. "PeakOptical produces optics – transceivers as well as fibre cables – that are similar to or better than the original manufacturer's specs."

Xeptor is based in the Netherlands but has a UK office. It claims to offer discounts of greater than 50 per cent on manufacturer list prices and short lead times for delivery.
