New year period sees a range of changes in the channel

One of the bigger pieces of staffing news this week was that IBM UK's head, Stephen Leonard, is moving on to become general manager for global markets in the company's Systems and Technology Group. His replacement as chief executive of IBM UK and Ireland is David Stokes.

Stokes has previously been vice president for growth markets, Shanghai, and general manager for Central and Eastern Europe, Prague. At IBM he has also held roles in the software group, in competitive sales, and general business. He will now be based in London, in IBM's Southbank offices.

As reported by ChannelWeb, Ingram Micro and Logicalis also both have new heads - Brent McCarty (pictured, left) to Ingram, and Mark Starkey, to the latter - while Danwood founder Colin Daniels is believed to be leaving under a cloud.

Data hosting specialist Daisy has announced two new roles: product manager for hosting and cloud, which will be filled by Neil Barnett; and project manager, who will be Manjit Boparai.

Liam Norris (pictured, right), previously at PSCo Technical Distribution, has taken a role as business manager at preloved audiovisual kit reseller Nearly New AV, where he will take responsibility for business performance, strategy development, and buying and selling of its full portfolio.

At Bull UK and Ireland, Jackie Raybould, formerly international services director at SCC, has started as services director.

Chip maker AMD has replaced its chief financial officer. Devinder Jumar has been acting as a stand-in since Thomas Siefert departed but will now take on the role permanently.

Joe Fagan has reportedly returned to his roots after leaving CMS Distribution - formerly CMS Peripherals - for a role as senior director for cloud initiatives at Seagate. Before CMS, he was at Maxtor. No replacement has yet been announced.

Distributor Steljes has announced another round of hires, adding Katie Stayt as marketing manager for education, Stuart Phillips as marketing executive, and Stephen Hyatt as junior marketing manager. The trio will report to marketing head Natalie Harris.

Year-old cloud channel enablement specialist Channel Mechanics has named Kenneth Fox as its new chief technology officer. Fox has previously worked for a range of blue-chip IT firms, including IBM, Nortel and Avaya.

Specialist distributor Medium has announced a slew of hires: Martin Price has joined from PSCo, and will be business development manager focusing on the North-West. Former Admiral AV staffer Courtney Hercules has been hired as an internal account manager, where he will work with two other new appointees to the team, Jas Bassi and Steve Grundy.

Meanwhile, Tim Porter has come from Sahara to take up a position as CTOUCH interactive displays product manager, and Natalie Costello will be senior marketing executive at Medium following three years at Lexmark.

Not to be outdone, Comms-care has made five new appointments to its management team, although all were already at the business.

The new management team (pictured, below) includes: Matt Long as head of technical services; Joey Ghader as sales manager; Rachel Mander as service desk manager; Pete Murphy as sales manager; and Neil Bryers as HR manager. They will be working with the current management team and will report directly to the Board.
