Vision eyes Insight for SP success

Agreement designed to give software vendor full coverage of the UK service provider market

Vision Solutions has signed up Insight Enterprises to distribute its Double Take products to its service provider (SP) partners.

The vendor hopes to recruit at least half of Insight's 600 service provider partners following the deal, which takes effect from today.

Vision currently has Service Provider Licence Agreements (SPLAs) with Softcat and Comparex. Ian Masters, sales director for northern Europe at Vision, said he hopes the agreement with Insight – another Microsoft large account reseller partner – will ensure full coverage of the market.

"We want [the Insight deal] to open up new markets and address the wider SP market. SPs are shopping around and they can move from Softcat to Insight, for example, and vice versa. It makes sense, although it sounds selfish, to have complete coverage [of the market]," he added.

Masters said the addition of Insight will complete its SP distribution line-up, and there are no plans to add any others.

Insight hopes the agreement will help its SP community move quickly to cloud platforms as well as provide business continuity and recovery solutions.

Mark Green, EMEA director of online and cloud computing at Insight, said: "Insight has a long history of supplying software licensing advice and packages to the service provider community.

"This partnership with Vision Solutions will help our partners get customers onto their cloud platforms faster and provide differentiated service offerings based on real-time data replication."
