Organisation unveils new leaders of its UK Channel Community

CompTIA has unveiled the chosen seven who will fill leadership roles in its Channel Community.

The group was initially launched in 2011 after CompTIA acquired the Technology Channels Association (TCA).

First to be unveiled is the chair of the Community - Lee Evans, whose day job is managing director of Vital Technology Group.

Jim Harrower, UK & Ireland sales manager at GFI Software takes on the role of vice chair.

Representing UK VARs is Mark Williams, managing director of Pensar IT Management, and Matt Barton, technical director of Ostrich IT Services.

Ian Moyse, sales director of Workbooks.com and Les Billing, sales director of netPrefect will represent the IT vendors.

Finally, Andy Dow, marketing director of Computer 2000 will step up the plate to represent distributors within the CompTIA Community.

Todd Thibodeaux, chief executive of CompTIA, said: "Since its inception our UK Channel Community has been extremely active and engaged in addressing the issues affecting the IT channel and creating common sense solutions to address them.”

“We fully expect the group’s new leadership to continue with this important and inspired work in 2013.”

Activities the community has been involved with to date include the development and promotion of the IT Business Trustmark an entry-level quality mark for IT businesses; and the integration and promotion of Accredit UK, an advanced quality mark for it businesses. Both marks are designed specifically for the IT channel.

The community has also worked on the continuing development of resources for the IT channel - including more than 35 education guides aimed at VARs serving small and medium-sized businesses; and created a legal resource centre housing legal templates, documents, agreements and contracts typically used by IT channel companies.
