Misco UK GM to helm new Budapest back-office centre

Sandy Price flies east to head services facility that, according to reports, will be 200-strong by year end

Systemax is reportedly opening a back-office services facility in Budapest, with 200 staff expected to be based there by the end of 2013.

According to local news reports, the location is due to open in the coming months and will provide Systemax's operations across the EMEA region with back-office and marketing services. Hungarian news stories report that Systemax – which owns UK channel heavyweight Misco – considered opening a centre in a number of eastern European locations before settling on the Hungarian capital (pictured).

UK channel sources report that long-time UK general manager of Misco Sandy Price will be moving east to oversee the running of the new facility.

It was revealed in November, as Systemax published a tepid set of Q3 results, that the firm would be opening an eastern European services centre as part of a cost-cutting restructure. One-off costs, including redundancy payoffs, are expected to cost the company about $15m across Q4 and Q1.

Systemax was unavailable for comment as ChannelWeb went to press.

For the 2011 calendar year, Misco UK Ltd banked operating profit of £12.6m on sales of £275.7m. The Systemax group as a whole posted global sales of almost $3.7bn last year.
