Consultancy sets out to make tech businesses more 'commercial'

Stated aim for new consultancy ExeTec is to bridge the gap between technology and commercial silos

A new London consulting company is positioning itself as the go-to firm for technology providers that want to commercialise their offerings.

ExeTec Consulting is the brainchild of Clive Mayne and Gordon Young, a duo with many years' executive tenure at a range of IT vendors. According to ExeTec, the fledgling firm is "actively targeting" both established and start-up players in the networking, security, IT, software, telecoms, nanotech, wireless and components spaces.

"The focus of the new consultancy has come from extensive real-world experience in product management and other business-critical disciplines such as leadership, technology commercialisation, marketing, business development and sales," it said in its launch announcement. "ExeTec can provide immediate access to a broad skill set to deliver practical support."

Mayne and Young have held down positions at the likes of Aruba, Fujifilm, Xerox Research, Cisco, IBM, Nortel, and with a range of less well-known names. The aim, they say, is to help technology companies fully exploit their commercial potential by bridging the gaps between marketing, operations, business development and technology development.

"This includes guiding product delivery to optimise commercial return, identifying and exploiting market opportunities as well as developing communications strategies to capitalise on market opportunities," the announcement said.

Custom so far includes an optimisation project for contact centre specialist Datapoint.
