Wireless delays decline of inkjet market

Context analysis shows that wireless all-in-one inkjets do best in Europe

Wireless all-in-one inkjet sales in the UK slid 11.8 per cent year on year by volume in 2012, according to the latest figures from Context.

The wireless subset, however, did better – decreasing only 1.6 per cent in unit terms year on year in UK distribution.

Context said the figures contrasted with those for western Europe as a whole, where the wireless subset of all-in-one inkjets actually grew nine per cent year on year, against an overall all-in-one inkjet decline of 14 per cent.

According to the analyst, wireless all-in-one inkjets are popular in homes and small offices because they can be located easily, connecting to multiple devices without cabling.

HP has retained its place as leading vendor of wireless all-in-one inkjets, although Epson and Canon are seeking stronger growth.
