Telindus wins £3m House of Commons deal

Integrator to supply Parliament with networking equipment in a four-year deal

Integrator Telindus has bagged a contract to supply the House of Commons with more than £3m worth of networking equipment in a move which is hoped will improve government worker's IT access as well as reducing parliament's IT spend.

The Hampshire-based firm will supply the UK's lower chamber with around 12,000 replacement data switches along with 6,000 replacement phone systems along with internet and remote access services in a framework term which will last at least four years.

Telindus submitted the most economic proposal and was selected for its capacity for flexibility, innovation and improvement as well as its ability to manage small and large scale changes.

The contract award notice stated that the deal will allow parliament to progress in its long-term vision for better IT services.

It stated: "The new network infrastructure must be resilient and have sufficient capacity to carry additional network traffic at a later date.

"This will allow parliament to achieve its long term vision of network convergence and delivering the strategic aim...to connect members, the public and the administration to the information and services they need from anywhere, at any time and from any device."

It added that the contract will assist parliament in its aims to reduce the cost of IT and to provide new opportunities for efficiency.
