Intrinsic overhauls £42m campus infrastructure

VAR implements a VDI and unifies the comms of Furness College

Intrinsic Technology has revamped the infrastructure of a £42m college campus to ensure its IT capabilities match its swish exterior.

Selected by Furness College, Intrinsic updated the establishment's networks, implemented a virtual desktop infrastructure and unified its communications. All systems are based on Intrinsic's Fusion managed service offering.

As a result, the state-of-the-art building has the technology to match, boasting BYOD, anytime remote learning and improved collaboration and communications strategies for both students and staff.

Dave Griffiths, head of corporate sales at Intrinsic, said: "The solution we have implemented is centred on flexibility. Furness College offers such a wide range of education and training that the IT infrastructure needed to cater for this with an easily accessible, shared network. The state-of-the-art new building deserved an equally advanced solution – and our initiatives will help them continue to offer excellence in teaching and learning.”

Jo Anson, director of HE at Furness College, added: “Our new development is about providing an absolutely state-of-the-art environment for students and staff, and we always knew IT would be fundamental to that. Intrinsic not only delivered a creative, cost-effective infrastructure, but its managed services proposition has completely overhauled the way we support users.”
