Channel duo leaves Webroot

EMEA channel manager Richard Daly and account manager Liam Comiskey join rival Total Defense

Two of Webroot's UK and Ireland channel chiefs have left the company this month for security vendor Total Defense, ChannelWeb has learned.

Richard Daly, who held the role of EMEA channel manager for Webroot since the start of last year, and EMEA account manager Liam Comiskey, have both walked through the exit doors.

They are to join security vendor Total Defense, with Daly taking charge of its EMEA channel and Comiskey in the role of cloud security specialist.

Webroot confirmed the pair's departure but said it could not comment on individual's career decisions.

The vendor launched a channel push at the start of the year with the signing of distributor CDG following the appointment of new global channel chief Charles Tomeo.

In response to Daly and Comiskey leaving the firm, Webroot added that its channel programme is very important.

Newly appointed Tomeo said: "The global channel programme is very important to Webroot as we continue to scale.

"We leverage both the channel and direct sales, and we intend to maintain a balance even as we expand our channel presence through deeper relationships with current partners."

A former Webroot manager who wished to remain anonymous claimed that the frequent channel changes are a reflection of the vendor's exit from the email market.

"It is no surprise that the channel re-build failed with Webroot as the damage was already done when they accelerated the end of lifing of some of their services," he said. "It had a big negative impact on their reseller base and left a bad taste in many mouths.

"The fact that these people have already moved on does not [bode] well for Webroot's channel momentum."
