XMA bags £60m Scottish tablet deal
VAR wins deal to supply Scottish education and public sector bodies with a range of tablets
XMA has won a Scottish public sector tablet gig worth up to an estimated £60m over three years.
The VAR has bagged sole-supplier status on both Lots of a national framework covering the supply of tablets and notebooks to Scottish schools and public sector organisations.
First announced in November, the framework started on 1 March and will run for up to three years.
Lot 1, estimated to be worth £15m to £30m, is aimed at schools, colleges and universities. It offers iPad minis, iPads, Asus Nexus 7s, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1s, Acer TravelMate notebooks and Dell Latitude 10s.
Worth a potential £12m to £30m, Lot 2 is aimed at all other public sector bodies, including those concerning health, police and local councils. Three tablets are available through it: the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Dell Latitude 10.
XMA will also supply related accessories and services.
The VAR, which claims to be the UK's fourth-largest public sector reseller, opened a Glasgow office in 2010 which now employs 12 staff.
Jamie Marshall-Watt, solutions manager at XMA, said: "Many organisations are already purchasing tablets and seeing the benefits. This framework will offer them a compliant route to purchase these devices at the best price available, and with all the support they need to deploy them effectively."
Last February, XMA also won a deal to supply the Scottish government with netbooks that is set to end in May this year. It has an optional 12-month extension.
