Samsung chip chief sticks boot into Windows 8
Jun Dong-soo also takes a pot shot at the Surface during a Q&A on the PC market
Samsung has become the latest in a long line of vendors to take a swipe at Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system and its Surface tablet, reports have claimed.
Tech website AllthingsD reported how Jun Dong-soo, president of Samsung's memory chip division, was answering questions on the continued contraction of the global PC market.
He responded that he does not expect the PC industry to rebound anytime soon and when it does, it will not be powered by Windows 8.
He was reported to have said: "The global PC industry is steadily shrinking despite the launch of Windows 8.
"I think the Windows 8 system is no better than the previous Windows Vista platform."
He went on to stick the boot in further.
"Rollout of [Microsoft's] Windows Surface tablet is seeing lacklustre demand. Meanwhile, previous vigorous pitches by Intel and MS for thinner ultra-books simply failed and I believe that is mostly because of the less-competitive Windows platform.”
