Back to the 80s for Softcat in aid of Comic Relief
Staff turn up for work as a variety of 80s icons as cash donated to charity for every order placed today
Reseller Softcat has pledged to donate money to Comic Relief for every order placed with it today as part of its fundraising efforts for the charity.
The Marlow-headquartered VAR is donating £150 for sales from new Softcat customers, and £20 for every other order placed with it today to Comic Relief, which aims to help eliminate poverty across the world.
Staff at the reseller have turned up for work today in 80s gear in order to further its fundraising efforts, and will be transformed into a call centre tomorrow evening from 5:30pm in order to take donations from the public.
As part of the fancy dress theme, employees have turned up to work as a variety of 80s icons, including Smurfs, Ghostbusters and Zippy, Bungle and George from kids' TV favourite Rainbow.
Softcat's solutions director Sam Routledge (pictured) channeled his inner rock star and has become Guns N Roses' Slash for the day as part of the cause, alongside sales director Dave Ridgway (pictured below) who has become Bananaman.
This morning, Routledge tweeted: "We're all in 80s fancy dress today. The management meeting is quite entertaining!"
On announcing the firm's status as a Comic Relief call centre last month, chairman Martin Hellawell said that charitable work is a big part of working at Softcat.
He said: "Charitable work is deeply infused into our work culture, so we are absolutely thrilled to have been selected to host a call centre for Red Nose Day.
"Red Nose Day is one of our largest charity efforts and we also raised almost £17,000 for Sport Relief last year, so we are aiming to raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief. We are aiming to top that this year."
