Joskos bags £2m worth of schools contracts across the UK

Education-focused reseller to supply about 10 schools across UK with products including wireless kit and servers

Reseller Joskos has been awarded a flurry of schools contracts totalling more than £2m, which it claims will help expand its reach outside of London.

The education specialist, which is based in the capital, has won deals with more than 10 schools across the country which are set to be rolled out in the next few months as part of the Department for Education ICT Services Framework.

Joskos will supply infrastructure, teaching solutions, servers, wireless equipment and consultancy to the schools, and said the recurring income from the contracts is a boost to the firm.

The firm's managing director Nick Madhavji claimed that his company's specialism in education means that it can deliver what other resellers often cannot.

"We are an education-only reseller, it is what we do best. You can provide kit [to schools] but if it is not being used effectively, you may as well have not supplied it. Senior staff and I are school governors too; we are focused and we know what we are doing," he said.

"We are seeing providers trying to get into education but falling flat on their faces. Education might have millions of pounds worth of funding in it, but it is a different language and requires business principles to be different. It requires partners who are in it for the long haul, not someone who wants to get in there, sell a bunch of kit and say 'see you later'."

"A lot of people are falling foul of that as education is becoming smarter," he added, claiming that the smaller size of Joskos means that more tailored support can be given to schools.

The firm is also expecting more contracts to be finalised in the coming months which could see the £2m figure topped.
