Brother gives Phil Jones top UK job after nearly 20 years
Brother veteran appointed as managing director to fuel growth in the region
Brother has promoted veteran Phil Jones to the role of managing director for the UK in a move it claims will help propel its growth in the region.
Jones was promoted to deputy managing director a year ago after working his way up through the firm over a 19-year period, which saw him take on a variety of sales roles including sales and marketing director.
Following the departure of ex-managing director for the UK Hiroshi Miura last year, Brother International Europe's managing director Yuichi Tada took on responsibility for the UK. Jones took over full responsibility for the UK from Tada from the start of this month.
Brother, which employs 180 staff in the UK, claims that new innovations have helped lead it to success in its 2013 financial year, which ended on 31 March.
Jones claims his new appointment could not come at a more exciting time for the company, and said future growth is on the cards.
"Having joined the business back in the early 1990s with little leadership or business management experience, my journey really underlines Brother's commitment to investing in people and backing talent – a culture that I am determined to continue building during my tenure," he added.
"The UK is a strategically important market to Brother. With a committed team, a loyal customer base and some great new innovative technology, we have a fantastic opportunity to continue to grow in the years ahead."
