Quick as a cat but slower than a rhino wins £11,000

Four from Softcat complete the 2013 London Marathon for charity

Four Softcat staffers are recovering from completing the London Marathon on Sunday, having raised some £11,000 in the process.

Sales manager Steve Bull, networking and security consultant Alistair Musonzah and credit controller Adam Butler (pictured, above (Bull) and below (Musonzah and Butler)) were joined by purchasing manager James Pritchard with a view to raising funds for Dreams Come True, a charity that aims to help terminally ill children.

Bull has run 14 marathons to date and completed this one in three hours, 42 minutes.

Butler dressed as cartoon character Sylvester the Cat - an outfit that he confirmed was rather warm for the event. He said he hurt his foot during the race.

"A big furry costume might not have been the wisest choice, although it was cool hearing people shout encouragement to 'Sylvester'," he said. "My mum and uncle came and walked with me as I hobbled to the finish on my good foot, still in my cat costume. You feel like you can't go on, but with all that support I just had to finish," Butler said.

Musonzah finished in four hours, 44 minutes and has only one regret.

"I got beaten by a rhino. A guy in a huge rhino suit sped past me over the finish line. Gutted!" he said. "A marathon has always been on my bucket list; I'm so glad I did it, and in support of a fantastic charity."
