Samsung Q1 display sales enjoy 44 per cent growth

Digital media and convergence tech giant sees rapid UK expansion in displays

The UK displays division of Samsung has announced Q1 2013 sales growth rate of 44 per cent by revenue compared with the year-ago quarter, fuelled by demand for large-format screens.

Phil Gaut, general manager for the displays division at Samsung UK and Ireland, hinted that the channel was and would continue to be critical in its audiovisual category success.

"We have bigger ambitions for our AV categories. We want to build our successes in the area with our market-leading technology, the best people in the business and a very clear channel-focused strategy," he said.

The ME series of LED-backlit large format displays marketed as slim and eco-friendly were proving popular with more businesses looking to replace projectors with screens, according to the vendor.

This was particularly the case in banking and finance organisations.

Another area of note was the UE large format, narrow bezel, display for videowalls series, selling to retail, office and hospitality verticals, according to the vendor.

The firm also recently announced its smart signage platform and a software development kit for software partners.
