Entatech poised to launch southern office

CRN understands a number of Northamber staff are jumping ship to set up a new southern branch for Telford-based distributor

A number of Northamber staff are leaving to help set up a southern office for Telford-based distributor Entatech, CRN has learned.

It is understood that a handful of staff – sources have hinted at five – from Northamber have handed in their notice and will be taking up new roles at Entatech.

Speaking to CRN, Jon Atherton (pictured), vice president of Entatech, confirmed the distributor is setting up a southern office.

“I can confirm that there will be an office that will be set up in the south, but cannot comment on the people who will be setting it up at the moment," he said.

“Over the last couple of years Enta has migrated and developed its product portfolio and is refocusing on different areas of the IT channel. Something we all have to do as distributors.

“We have found a need, due to our growth in the corporate retail sector, for a presence in the south to service customers on a more regional basis. There is not a lot of IT here in Telford, and our reach is throughout the UK and Ireland. Our customers in the south need to see us on a regular basis.”

Atherton explain that the southern office is the second phase of its planned expansion, the first being the unveiling of its new £1m warehouse at its Telford premises.

He said the firm was not just planning southern expansion, but was also growing headcount at its HQ.

“We have added 10 extra heads in Telford so far as well,” he said.

No one from Northamber was available to comment on the news as this article was published, but a statement released yesterday on the distributor’s plans to accommodate the changing IT landscape hinted at changes to come.

David Phillips, founder of Northamber, said in the statement: “As an established channel business Northamber remains focused on responding and providing the products, logistics and financial services our resellers demand. This inevitably means changes to our vendor partners and the people who support them internally.”
