Fujitsu Services books a £25m Northern Irish libraries deal
Firm to manage entire IT infrastructure for all public libraries in the region as part of virtual library vision
Fujitsu Services has scooped a £25m contract to supply Northern Ireland's Library Authority (NILA).
Over a five-year period, the vendor will provide the region's public libraries with a range of products such as printers, computer hardware and internet kit as well as overhauling its wider finance and payroll system.
On top of this, it will manage its desktops, datacentres, network, corporate applications, and line-of- business applications and service desks.
The deal will see Fujitsu manage all the ICT infrastructure in every public library across Northern Ireland as part of its plan to provide virtual library services to residents.
As part of the partnership, Fujitsu has created a number of local jobs for young people aged between 18 and 24 as part of its graduate trainee scheme, which has provided 91 jobs for young people across the UK in total since it launched last year.
Greg McDaid, Fujitsu's director for Northern Ireland in the UK and Ireland, said the win cements its place as a key provider in the region.
"This important win cements Fujitsu's place as the leading IT services supplier in Northern Ireland and demonstrates our ability to help clients move seamlessly into an increasingly digital marketplace," he added.
"We look forward to working with Libraries NI to help them meet their objectives of delivering better, more dynamic services to customers."
