Cloud VAR becomes first G-Cloud Amazon reseller
Amazon Web Services now channelled through UK procurement framework
Cloud services and software provider Arcus Global, a Cambridge start-up, has become the first certified UK government reseller of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) portfolio.
Denis Kaminskiy, managing director of the AWS, Google, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Office 365, Force.com, Clarizen and Zoho reseller, said this extends the cloud specialist's capabilities through the G-Cloud iii framework.
"We are already part of the UK government's G-Cloud framework, and at the forefront of moving the UK's public sector organisations to a flexible IT model," he said. "From day one we have built the business to focus on the cloud and have chosen to partner the worldwide leader in cloud computing technologies."
Kaminskiy said UK public sector organisations would now be able to procure AWS technologies via the G-Cloud framework, taking advantage of Arcus' design, migration, and development services as well.
As reported on ChannelWeb earlier today, much of the focus has been on opening up procurement to smaller providers, particularly SMB resellers.
"[This] allows them to focus their resources on doing what they do best, which is delivering new services and value to the citizens of the UK, and not on maintaining and running technology infrastructure," he said.
Arcus Global also wraps consultancy around its offering. So far, public sector customers include the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Tandridge Disctrict Council, Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust, English Heritage, and Buckinghamshire County Council.
Buckinghamshire County Council is currently piloting an IaaS migration, according to Arcus.
