VMware welcomes in new top channel chief
Dave O'Callaghan joins virtualisation behemoth following 12-year stint leading Cisco's sales and distribution
VMware has signed up a former Cisco veteran as its global channel chief to help deliver the vendor's software-defined datacentre strategy through its resellers.
Dave O'Callaghan joins the vendor as its senior vice president of global channels and alliances. His appointment follows a brief stint as a consultant after a 12-year career at Cisco in which he served as worldwide commercial sales vice president as well as roles in worldwide distribution.
In his new VMware role, O'Callaghan is charged with leading vision and strategy for all the firm's global partners across all routes to market including solution providers, service providers, OEMs, outsourcers and ISVs.
O'Callaghan said he is excited to work with resellers on VMware's software-defined propositions.
"I am looking forward to working with our partners to provide predictable, consistent and profitable practices to enable us together to deliver innovative and comprehensive software-defined solutions to organisations of all sizes," he added.
"I look forward to our continued mutual success as we help our customers solve their biggest IT infrastructure challenges of today and in the future."
