New VAR Eximus plots £50m growth path

Former Premises Networks Management chief Maurice Lee backed by Elippse group of companies in new channel venture

Channel veteran Maurice Lee is aiming to create a £50m channel player with his new outfit Eximus Solutions.

Eximus is 55 per cent owned by the Elippse group of companies, a holding vehicle which also owns brands IPS, Postfield Systems, Sprite Recruitment and Lima Solutions. Eximus, which was incorporated early last year and began trading in earnest shortly before the new year, provides telephony and data products and services. It also has a white-label hosted telephony offering that is sold through the channel.

"We have already signed up a couple of resellers and are expanding that as much as possible," said Lee. "Lots of telephony solutions just sell dial tones. We sell a full bundled package for a competitive price."

Lee founded reseller Premises Networks Management in 1996, which was sold to Telent in 2008. He remained at his firm's new owner for three years before leaving and setting up Eximus last year. Lee is joined in his new venture's management line-up by finance chief Elaine Gellion and chief technology officer Duncan Shaw.

Key vendors for the nascent VAR include Aastra and Microsoft and early wins include a deal to support the IT operations of Robin Hood Airport Business Park in Doncaster. Lee explained that, while Eximus is a young company, its status as part of a £20m group gives it clout.

"We are a start-up, but we can call on a central pool of about 100 engineers," he added.
