Centrex expands services offering

Supply chain specialist capitalises on number of firms that are 'sweating' their IT assets

Supply chain specialist Centrex Services has added a brokerage and disposal service to its menu to cope with increasing demand from firms that have held on to their technology assets.

The new division will provide a specialised service offering both complete units and parts, including many legacy lines.

Centrex also aims to use its nationwide logistics infrastructure to provide a complete disposal service, which will allow customers to use outgoing kit as collateral against new technology sold to them by Centrex.

Shane Watson, procurement and brokerage manager Centrex, said the key to managing this balancing act is to sweat business assets to ensure systems are performing at optimum level, without the need to make huge investments in new technology.

“It is clear the current economic climate is affecting how frequently businesses are refreshing their hardware, and this is leading to an increase in residual values of equipment between three and seven years old,” he said.

Watson added: “By offering businesses the right product to solve any hardware challenges, companies could realistically extend the life span of their current product solution and therefore maximise margin. The amount of money which can be saved by businesses extending product life cycles is clear.”
