Compusys founder pops up at Centerprise International

Sam Kazerounian returns as new managing director after a five-year break from the industry

System builder and VAR Centerprise International has appointed Sam Kazerounian – founder and chief executive of Compusys – as its new managing director.

Kazerounian (pictured) took a five-year sabbatical from the channel after he sold his previous firm Compusys to rival Stone Computers for an undisclosed sum.

Speaking to CRN, Kazerounian said he was pleased to be back in the industry. “I was out of the IT industry for five years so I am coming back to this with a fresh mind and I am just getting my feet under the table and getting to know the business.

“I am planning to expand the business and strengthen any weak areas, while making the stronger areas even stronger. I am a sales-driven type of person and so far I am really impressed with what I am seeing.”

He said the market had not changed that much in five years. “I would say it is pretty much the same – I have over 25 years’ experience in the market – it may be slightly faster and cheaper, but I would say it has always been tough. Nothing is new there. I am very much looking forward to working with [the Centerprise team] to continue building on their great work.”

In other company news, Garry Stevens, who has overseen Centerprise’s recent investment in online marketplace OnCommerce, will take on a revised role as group chief executive of the Centerprise International Group.

The newly created role has been designed to ensure maximum return on the firm’s investments, joint ventures and partial acquisitions.

In a statement, Stevens said: “As well as helping to develop the core businesses, I will be working closely with our chairman Rafi Razzak and the rest of the board of directors to ensure we continue to grow and prosper well past our 30th year.”
