Chess launches charity single

Telecoms VAR wrote single in memory of its former operations director who passed away recently

More than 60 staff from Alderley Edge-based Chess starred in their own music video to raise much-needed funds for a local hospice.

The self-penned track, entitled Love, was released last month on iTunes to raise money for the East Cheshire Hospice in memory of the firm's former operations director Julie Wright.

To celebrate the release of Love, the firm held a dress-down pop-star day (pictured) with some very colourful and daring outfits paraded around the head office.

Stephen Dracup, managing director of Chess, who was also Julie’s partner, said: “We are passionate about our unique one-team spirit at Chess and never has it been more apparent than today. The effort and lengths our people have undertaken over the past few weeks for the East Cheshire Hospice has been inspirational to myself and I am sure Julie would feel the same way. I am very proud and humble to be part of such a great business.”

David Pollock, chief executive of Chess, added: “The dress-down pop day was the official launch for the Love track and the response we received from our people was outstanding, with fantastic costumes and charity games. We encourage our people to play their part in the wider community and their efforts will have made a significant contribution of reaching our £12,000 target for the East Cheshire Hospice.”

We here at CRN are particularly impressed with Channel Awards judge Richard Btesh’s sax solo. Well done to you all!
