Ingram Micro hands European reins to Schulz
DACH region boss to grab tiller from Alain Maquet in August
Ingram Micro is swapping a Frenchman for a German at the helm of its European organisation.
The world's largest distributor announced today that Gerhard Schulz will be promoted to senior executive vice president and president of Ingram Micro Europe.
He is replacing Alain Maquet, who is moving to Miami to take on a company-wide role, effective 1 August.
Ingram said that Schulz, who previously headed up its central European business, had been the driving force behind the rapid expansion of the distributor's value activities in the DACH region.
"Under Gerhard's leadership, we look forward to growing our European operations by further diversifying our business model and strengthening our solutions business," said Ingram chief executive Alain MoniƩ, to whom Schulz will now report.
Schulz (pictured) joined Ingram in 2000 to head its sales department before being promoted to run the distributor's German business after a year. He later also assumed control of its Austrian, Swiss and Hungarian operations.
In his new role as senior executive vice president, corporate, Maquet will be responsible for global productivity.
"We are fortunate to have Alain Maquet ready to take on increased responsibilities," said MoniƩ. "For the past four years Maquet has successfully driven strong growth in higher-margin businesses and markets, including enterprise computing/datacentre, Ingram Micro Logistics and data capture/point-of-sale, while also promoting best practices to support profitable growth across the region."
