ShoreTel revs up UC partnership with Williams F1
F1 team to use firm's technology at this weekend's Silverstone Grand Prix
Unified communications (UC) provider ShoreTel has teamed up with Williams Formula One (F1) Team to drive its technology for the British Grand Prix.
ShoreTel will be the official technical supplier for Williams starting from this weekend's race at Silverstone, which will mark the team's 600th race participation.
Following the race, the firm's UC technology will be used across Williams, with its F1 team, advanced engineering department and its Qatar-based technology centre using the UC products.
A range of technology including mobility client licences, digital enhanced cordless telecoms, handsets, conferencing services and ShoreTel's Enterprise Contract Centre will be used by the team as part of the pair's contract.
ShoreTel's EMEA vice president Adrian Hipkiss said his firm and Williams share a technology vision.
"We are joining forces with a company that shares our forward-thinking vision and one that also thrives on delivering state-of-the-art technology," he said.
"[Williams], both at the factory and at 19 Formula One races around the world, relies on... UC."
Claire Williams, commercial director at Williams, said the ShoreTel partnership will benefit the whole business as it continues to diversify and expand into new areas.
