RES Software makes splash with Pooley in UK channel

New regional director role for UK and Ireland filled by Citrix man

RES Software has created a new UK and Ireland regional director role, appointing Citrix's Mark Pooley to lead sales and channel across both countries.

According to the virtualisation software vendor, the sales and channel directorship is an overall expansion of its growing team.

Pooley (pictured) will have primary responsibility for UK and Ireland customer relationships – although it is understood that current sales director Lee Randall and channel director Helen Wood will retain their roles.

Kees van Bekkum, executive vice president of global sales at RES Software, said: "Under his leadership, we plan to double the sales capacity in the UK and Ireland. The region has already achieved significant growth, with licence bookings for the first half of 2013 increasing by 85 per cent year over year."

Bekkum said the UK is one of the vendor's highest priorities in EMEA and that Pooley had the right skill set to help boost theirs and partners' revenue.

Pooley was previously an EMEA sales director at Citrix, and before that was at app migration and management company App-DNA, which was acquired by Citrix.

He has also worked in business development positions at VMware and Sun Microsystems, according to RES.

RES's UK regional director Chris Hammans was promoted to vice president Northern EMEA in late 2011, and left the company in January 2012 to join Microsoft.

At that time, Randall took on the UK and Ireland sales director role, covering enterprise sales, at RES.

Wood took on the channel director role in January 2013.

Current EMEA vice president of sales is Morteza Esteki, who is based in Amsterdam.
