Alvea tweaks cloud service to help VARs embrace BYOD

Distie enhances cloud-attached storage programme to reflect growing customer demand for mobile and BYOD products

Computerlinks' cloud arm Alvea Services is looking to help its resellers take advantage of growing customer demand for BYOD and mobility products by enhancing its service.

The security distributor's cloud-attached storage (CAS) service – which has been in place for about two years – now includes mobile security functions, cloud storage SLAs and file sync-and-share capabilities.

Microsoft Hyper-V backup, replication and recovery is also included in the update, as well as remote-wipe functionality.

The firm claims the makeover addresses the needs of the mobile workforce and allows resellers to enable their customers to migrate to the cloud quickly and securely.

Neil Gardner, Alvea's services proposition manager, said: "Enterprise mobility and BYOD are key opportunities for our partners to deliver added value to their customers.

"The new, enhanced features of Alvea CAS and our expanding team of cloud and mobility experts mean that we can give our partners the best support possible as they develop their businesses around new technologies and working practices."

Alvea added that the programme tweaks could see resellers generate new, high-margin, recurring revenue streams.

Earlier this year Alvea launched a managed network security service and aimed to recruit about 70 new VARs which it claimed had been priced out of enterprise solutions.
