Comms-care cheques in at Alder Hey Family House

CRN Fight Night victor donates thousands to nominated children's charity

Paul "The Vindicator" Vernon, Comms-care's winning boxer at CRN Fight Night 2013, was thrilled this week to be able to take his sponsorship cheque to his chosen charity in person.

Vernon had nominated Alder Hey Family House Trust, a charity that offers a home away from home to the families of critically ill children, to receive the £2,786 he managed to raise for his performance on the night.

"Alder Hey is a fantastic charity that provides a sanctuary for families with critically ill children. It has been a place of comfort for my colleague and friend Jole Fisher and his partner during their daughter's many stays in Alder Hey Children's Hospital due to various respiratory and cardiac conditions," he said.

Thomas said the £2,786 will help significantly in terms of providing accommodation for families in their time of need.

"As Alder Hey Family House Trust is run by an independent charity and houses over 2,000 families a year, with a waiting list of 20 families per night, every donation makes a huge difference to the trust and the families that we help. Thank you to Paul for being dedicated to the cause and putting himself in the ring on our behalf," she said.

Vernon's win also was the sixth Fight Night victory for Cheshire-based IT support provider Comms-care.

He was required to train for 12 weeks to compete at the annual white-collar boxing event, which was held in London in May.

"The intense training regime put forward by Winsford ABC boxing club and Dave's Gym Northwich was tougher than I could have ever imagined. I'm very proud," said Vernon.
