Teacher Tech and Jaguar team up in £1.2m VDI deal

Reseller revives automotive giant's remote connection project in a deal it claims is a landmark for the firm

VAR Teacher Tech has unveiled details of its £1.2m "landmark" deal with automotive giant Jaguar Land Rover, which it claims has given it the confidence to go for similar-sized deals to propel the firm's growth in the future.

The London-based HP reseller fought off a number of larger, more well-known rivals for the deal, which saw it provide a range of remote-access products as well as new servers and storage.

Jaguar had initially put its VDI plans on hold, but revived them with Teacher Tech after the reseller unveiled a range of potential solutions from vendors such as VMware and Citrix.

In a process spanning the past year, Teacher Tech deployed a range of HP server enclosures alongside HP StoreVirtual storage products, which it claims it was supported strongly by Azlan to supply.

Teacher Tech managing director Daniel Teacher said the help it got from both HP and Azlan meant the project was a success.

"Quite simply, we could not have succeeded in winning the contract with Jaguar Land Rover without the strong technical and sales support we received from Azlan and HP," he said.

"We are a relatively small HP reseller but the support we got from Azlan and HP on this project has made us feel valued and we have been able to deliver a solution that delivers really great benefits and ROI for the customer.

"With the support of HP and Azlan, we are confident that we can compete for bigger projects. It was a great team effort and one that has delivered positive results for everyone.

"While we did a lot of the initial groundwork ourselves, Azlan's team was with us every step of the way, and provided really excellent advice and insight into the HP solutions. HP was also extremely supportive and having access to the Competency Centre in Grenoble made a real difference."
