Multimillion-pound Environment Agency contract up for grabs

Agency seeks five suppliers to support its flood-management services and equip its staff with mobile devices

A contract worth up to £9m is being offered up by the Environment Agency, which is seeking a handful of suppliers to support its flood-management capabilities.

The services and software contract will last for four years, and its estimated value is between £2m and £9m over the period. The agency provides services and support for a range of environmental issues including flood defences, sustainable development and air and water quality across England.

The body hopes to find a range of suppliers to implement a new IT system to support the planning and programming of its 400,000 "flood-risk assets" which include walls, embankments, pumping stations and flood-storage areas.

The awarded suppliers will be charged with supporting its maintenance programme, managing IT relating to unplanned emergency work, electronic work orders and supporting the use of mobile devices for field staff (although procurement for the latter will be separate from this tender).

The Bristol-based body welcomes bids from suppliers working together, and expects a maximum of five to be awarded business. The most economic application will be awarded, according to a recently published tender document.

The deadline for submissions falls at the end of the month.
