Softcat opens new London hub

Reseller moves into an office three times the size of its first City location

Softcat has tripled the size of its London digs with the opening of a 9,000 sq ft office in the City.

The reseller opened the doors to its first capital location in 2010 and announced plans to recruit 100 London staff over the course of three years. Its new facility has space for 150 employees and is located just a few yards away from its initial base in Moorgate.

The office features six meeting rooms, an 80-seat customer seminar room and a rooftop terrace. Some five kilometres of cabling has been laid and the building is kitted out with HP thin clients, Dell monitors and Cisco VoIP video phones.

Softcat claims it decorated the office in a manner befitting its quirky, fun-loving ethos. Legal and administration director Bill Kenny stressed the importance the reseller places on staff happiness.

"We're proud of our unique company culture and the happy working atmosphere we foster, and with its spaciousness, fun features and original designs the new London office will undoubtedly enhance this," he added.

Danielle Binnee, who heads up Softcat's London sales operations, echoed the sentiment that "the new office really encapsulates what our company culture is all about".

"The new office has really given everyone a boost; now we have far more space, top-of-the-range technologies to work with and a fun, individualistic décor," she added. "There's a large breakout area with a pool table, where employees can take a break, eat lunch and socialise. The technology is brand new and facilitates ease of communication and work management, and the multiple meeting rooms ensure there's always space to meet with customers and partners."
